What is tube feeding?
Tube feeding is necessary for individuals who cannot consume enough nutrients orally but whose stomach or bowel are functioning properly. This may be due to difficulties with chewing or swallowing safely, an inability to eat or drink enough to maintain nutrition, a need for extra nutrition for growth, or an inability to maintain weight.
Some individuals rely entirely on tube feeding for their nutrition.Others may eat some food or drink orally but need additional nutrition through tube feeding.They may use nutritionally complete supplements, blenderised food, or a combination of both for their nutrition.
